Men's Lacrosse Team Selects Captains for 2010 Season

Scranton, PA – Jimmy Drescher and William Roerden have been named team captains for Marywood University’s men’s lacrosse team’s upcoming season according to an announcement made today by head coach Mic Grant. The duo will look to lead the Pacers to their third straight Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff and second consecutive CSAC Championship game appearance.

Drescher, a junior defender from Davidsonville, MD, will be a captain for the second-straight year after anchoring the Pacers defense for the past two seasons. Appearing in 16 games a season ago, Drescher scored one goal while collecting 34 groundballs and five caused turnovers. For his career, Drescher has appeared in 29 games and has been credited with 58 groundballs and six caused turnovers.

Roerden, an attackman from Warwick, NY, was named All-CSAC Honorable Mention a season ago after ranking second on the team with 26 goals and 41 points. As a sophomore, Roerden had a team-best three game-winning goals while contributing 38 groundballs and two caused turnovers. For his career, Roerden has scored 46 goals and 26 assists for 77 points.

In just their second year of competition, the 2009 Marywood squad posted a 10-7 overall record in 2009 including a 5-1 mark in conference play, reaching the CSAC Finals where the Pacers fell to nationally-ranked Cabrini College.
