6.1.2010 | Volleyball
Scranton, PA - Christopher Summa has been named as Marywood University's Head Volleyball Coach in an announcement made by Dr. Mary Jo Gunning, Director of Athletics and Recreation. Summa, the program's Head Coach for the 2007 season, will be returning for his second stint as the Pacers' mentor. In 2007, Summa led the Pacers to a 7-17 overall record including a 3-8 mark in CSAC action.

Aston, PA - 66 Marywood University student-athletes have been named to the 2009 CSAC Fall All-Academic Team according to an announcement made today by the commissioner's office, the most of the conference's 12 institutions. All seven of Marywood's fall sports teams placed at least five student-athletes on the squad which recognizes excellence on the field as well as in the classroom.

Scranton, PA – Philadelphia Biblical University avenged a regular season loss to Marywood University in the first round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball playoffs on Tuesday evening and scored a 3-0 sweep of the Pacers to advance to CSAC semifinals. The Crimson Eagles, now 19-14 on the year, advance to take on Neumann University.

Aston, PA – Marywood University volleyball players Emily Fillman and Maryrose Ammirati have been honored as the Colonial States Athletic Conference announced the recipients of the Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year; First, Second and Honorable Mention All-Conference teams and individual sportsmanship awards today. Fillman was named Second Team All-Conference while Ammirati was named Marywood’s recipient of the CSAC Sportsmanship Award.

Scranton, PA – Marywood University’s volleyball team closed out their regular season Saturday by splitting a pair of non-conference matches in a tri-match held at Marywood’s Insalaco Arena. The Pacers fell in three games to the University of Scranton before rebounding to top Kean University three games to one. Marywood will take a 10-15 overall record into Tuesday’s Colonial States Athletic Conference first round playoff match at Philadelphia Biblical University on Tuesday.

Immaculata, PA – Marywood University’s volleyball teamed clinched a berth in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs with a three games to one win over Immaculata University on Thursday evening. Three different Pacers recorded double-digits kills as Marywood improves to 9-14 on the season and finishes with a 7-4 conference mark.

Radnor, PA – Cabrini College defeated visiting Marywood University three games to none in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball action Tuesday evening to finish their regular season with an  unblemished 11-0 record in conference play. The Cavaliers also improved to 22-6 overall on the season while the Pacers fell to 8-14 overall and 6-4 in the CSAC.

Scranton, PA – Taryn Borden and Lizzy Green recorded six kills apiece to help lead Marywood University to a  3-0 sweep of Gwynedd-Mercy College in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball action on Saturday afternoon. The Pacers moved to 8-13 on the season with the key win which puts the squad at 6-3 in conference play in Marywood's quest for a playoff berth.

Wilkes-Barre, PA – Marywood University dropped a tough 3-2 match to host Wilkes University in the opening tilt of Saturday afternoon’s non-conference tri-match before falling 3-1 to Albright College. The Pacers, who had their four-match win streak snapped after the loss to the Colonels, are now 7-13 on the season.
