Aston, PA., - Marywood University women's cross country team has been selected in first place in the Colonial States Athletic Conference coaches' poll, tied with Gwynedd-Mercy College, who won the 2009 CSAC Championship by virtue of a tiebreaker. The Pacers and Griffins each captured 115 points in the balloting.

Scranton, PA - Marywood University has become official members of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), America's largest sporting conference. Dr. Mary Jo Gunning, Director of Athletics and Recreation, made the announcement today. Marywood, members of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), becomes members of the nation's largest athletic conference and only multi-divisional conference, with approximately 300 member institutions ranging across 16 states from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois.

Aston, PA – 66 Marywood University student-athletes have been named to the 2009 CSAC Fall All-Academic Team according to an announcement made today by the commissioner’s office, the most of the conference’s 12 institutions. All seven of Marywood’s fall sports teams placed at least five student-athletes on the squad which recognizes excellence on the field as well as in the classroom.

Bethlehem, PA - Marywood University placed three runners in the top 100 to finish 15th out of 53 schools in the NCAA Regional meet Saturday afternoon in Bethlehem.  The 2009 CSAC runners-up, Marywood bested Gwynedd-Mercy College, the team that took home the 2009 CSAC title on a tie-breaker, by four spots.  The Griffins finished 19th.  Johns Hopkins edged out Dickinson College for the overall team title.

Immaculata, PA – Marywood University’s women’s cross country team placed four runners in the top-ten of Saturday’s Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships to finish with 40 points, tied with Gwynedd-Mercy College, but had to settle for second place following a tiebreaker. The Pacers placed five runners on the CSAC All-Conference teams while just missing out their seventh conference title in eight years.

Gettysburg, PA – Lauren Rustad finished 30th in Saturday’s 6K Gettysburg Invitational to help lead Marywood University’s women’s cross country team to an 8th place finish out of 28 teams. The Pacers, who picked up 217 points on the day, will now prepare for the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships to be held in two weeks as part of the CSAC Fall Festival at Immaculata University.

Scranton, PA – Marywood University head cross country coach Kevin Borrelli won his second-straight Steamtown Marathon on Sunday after completing the 26.2 mile course in 2 hours, 25 minutes, and 42 seconds. Borrelli finished 41 seconds ahead of runner-up Jeffrey McCabe and has now won the prestigious local marathon both times in which he has competed in the race.

Center Valley, PA – Freshmen Sarah Bauer and Stephanie Bender each recorded top-30 finishes to help lead Marywood University’s women’s cross country team to a sixth place finish at Saturday’s DeSales University Invitational, tops among Colonial States Athletic Conference schools. The Pacers finished with 188 points in the 25-team, 6K race.

Bethlehem, PA – Marywood University’s women’s cross country team placed 11th out of 32 teams in Friday afternoon’s Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. The Pacers, who finished with 332 points, fell just seven points shy of a top-ten finish and were best among Colonial States Athletic Conference schools competing in the 6K race.
