Scranton, PA – Marywood University basketball players Lauren Rogan and Sidney Tharpe have been honored by the Colonial States Athletic Conference for their performances on the court last week. Rogan was named the CSAC Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week while Tharpe was named to the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Honor Roll as both teams won a pair of conference games.

Scranton, PA – Two former Marywood University athletic standouts were inducted as the 14th class of honorees into Marywood University’s prestigious Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, February 6, 2010 on the University’s campus. Anthony Mauro and Beth Eisenhower Fuller were selected for induction by the University’s Hall of Fame Committee and approved by Marywood University President Sister Anne Munley, IHM, Ph.D.

Scranton, PA - Marywood University's women's and men's basketball doubleheader versus Philadelphia Biblical University scheduled for Saturday, February 6 has been postponed. Expected snow accumulation in the Philadelphia area has made it unsafe for PBU to travel north. The men's game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 17 at 7pm while the women's game will be played Wednesday, February 10 at 6pm. The Hall of Fame Induction ceremony, which will see the 14th class of inductees being honored, will still take place.

Scranton, PA - Sidney Tharpe matched his season high point total with a 29 point performance, 23 of which came in the first half, and Lenny Martin grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds as Marywood University won their second straight with a 93-75 win over visiting Centenary College Thursday evening in Scranton. The Pacers, who stand at 7-13 and 4-10 in CSAC play, connected on 52% of their shots from the floor and out-rebounded the Cyclones (8-12, 6-7) 50-31 on the night.

Scranton, PA - Marywood University's men's basketball team completed an upset sweep of Neumann University with an 85-73 win over the Knights in CSAC men's basketball action Monday evening. Earlier in the night, Marywood's women's team stunned Neumann, who had been previously unbeaten in conference play. Senior Jerome Gosney led four Marywood players in double figures to help the Pacers snap a four-game skid.

Gwynedd Valley, PA - Marywood University was dealt a fourth straight loss as the Pacers suffered a 80-59 setback at Gwynedd-Mercy College Saturday afternoon in CSAC men's basketball action. The loss drops the Pacers to 5-13 on the year and 2-10 in league play, while the Griffins remain near the top of the conference with an 8-3 mark and improve to 9-9 overall on the year.

The Giants improve to 8-3 in league play and 12-5 overall while Marywood falls to 5-12 (2-9 CSAC).

Scranton, PA - Marywood University opened with an alley-oop dunk on the first play of the game and a 18-1 run over the opening five minutes and the Pacers cruised to a 97-65 win over visiting Baptist Bible College Monday night in Scranton. Marywood, playing in honor of assistant coach Paul Johnson who passed away unexpectedly this past Saturday, got a game-high 25 points from Sidney Tharpe and placed four players in double-figures to improve to 5-9 (2-6 CSAC). BBC fell to 2-10 and 1-5 in conference play.

Scranton, PA - Paul Johnson, a volunteer coach with Marywood University's men's basketball team, has passed away. Johnson suffered an apparant heart attack and could not be revived. He was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital in Scranton late Saturday night. Johnson was 42.
